What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the percentage of eighth grade students that are proficient or above in mathematics. This value refers to student scores on the Maryland School Assessment (MSA). |
| Why this is important: Competence in mathematics is essential for functioning in everyday life, as well as for success in our increasingly technological workplace. Students who take higher level mathematics and science courses which require strong fundamental skills in mathematics are more likely to attend and to complete college. |
| Technical Note: The distribution is based on data from 24 Maryland counties and county equivalents.Values greater than or equal to 95% were reported as 95%. |
