Ranking Effective Practice
Description The Green Suppliers Network is a collaborative venture among industry, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the US Department of Commerce's Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). Green Suppliers works with all levels of the manufacturing supply chain to improve processes and minimize waste generation. Through on-site Green Supplier reviews, suppliers continuously learn ways to increase energy efficiency, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resources and technologies to eliminate waste. The result - more effective processes and products with higher profits and fewer environmental impacts.
Goal / Mission The goal of this program is to help suppliers continuously learn ways to save money, optimize resource use, and eliminate waste through on-site technical reviews.
Results / Accomplishments Environmental outcomes include:
-Energy Conserved (kWh): 64,983,720
-Water Conserved (gal): 8,930,459
-Air Emissions Reduced (lbs): 81,200
-Solid Waste Reduced (lbs): 573,669
-Hazardous Waste Reduced (lbs): 2,700
-Chemical Use Reduced (lbs): 600
-Water Pollution Reduced (lbs): 128,250

Cost savings totaled $17,915,310.
